AES Show 150th International Convention Heyser Lecture and Keynote Presenters Announced

— AES Convention signature events highlight innovators in audio science and technology —

The AES has announced new Keynote and Heyser Lecture presentation details for the upcoming AES Show Spring 2021 Convention special events series, streamcast online, May 25 – 28. Keynote speakers will include audio innovators Lenise Bent, Marina Bosi and Eelco Grimm, with this Convention’s Heyser Memorial Lecture being given by hearing and psychoacoustics pioneer Diana Deutsch. Registration and preliminary program information highlighting other AES Show events and interactive opportunities is available at 2021.aesshow.com/Spring2021.

Offering a variety of ways for attendees to “Listen, Learn and Connect” with the global audio community, this milestone AES convention will bring a diverse array of expertise on important and enlightening topics. Of note is this year’s Heyser Memorial Lecture – a traditional part of each AES Convention – which will be given by AES Gold Medal award-winner Diana Deutsch on “Two Perceptual Puzzles: Audio Illusions and Perfect Pitch.” Deutsch will discuss her lifelong research into the understanding of the human hearing mechanism and the science of psychoacoustics, while showcasing demonstrable examples of common but misunderstood auditory phenomena that play a part in a listener’s perception and utilization of sound. The presentation will be followed by a live Q&A session with attendees.

Additionally, topics have been announced for the AES Show’s three keynote presentations: Engineer/Producer Lenise Bent will give the keynote “Creative and Alternate Audio Adventurers”; AES Fellow, Past President and current Treasurer-Elect Marina Bosi will give the keynote “A Peek Under the Hood of Perceptual Audio Coding: A Review of the History and a Look into the Future”; and high-end gear developer, audio researcher and educator Eelco Grimm will deliver the keynote “Loudness Normalization, a Personal History.”
